ColorMatch 5K

Thanks to someone’s blog, I just learned of ColorMatch 5K. This is an excellent tool that can help me select a color palette for new website designs.

QuickColor does the same thing. I’ll use both often.

Free Security Tools

Wired published a great article yesterday about some free tools you can use to secure your computer. I’ve been using many for some time now. SpamBayes, however, I adopted three weeks ago and love it. It now stops about 98 percent of the spam that arrives in my Outlook in box. Check it out.

If you’re concerned about the health of your computer, there are plenty of free ways to keep the bad guys at bay.

Sugarloaf ski trip

This weekend’s ski trip was a lot of fun. Roommates Scott & Adam, Adam’s girlfriend Dana, and house-friend Leslie headed up to Sugarloaf for the weekend. Dana and Adam lived in Boston prior to living in Connecticut. This ski trip was organized by their Boston friends.

Portland Head LighthouseSince a snow storm was approaching, we began our trip late Thursday evening, driving all the way to Portland. In the morning, we visited the Portland Head Light, which is situated along the spectacular shores of Fort Williams Park, at 1000 Shore Road. From there, we began the rest of our trip to the mountain.

The trip was fun. The days consisted of good skiing/boarding, and the evenings consisted of food, drinks, cards, and more. Sunday, we drove the whole way back (eight hours). All in all, a fun trip.

Maine will come off the list

The roommates, some friends, and I depart for Sugarloaf, Maine, tonight to begin a weekend of skiing. We planned on leaving Friday around noon, but news of a snow storm has prompted us to head out early. As one of the two drivers, I hope it won’t be too bad.

Though I am excited about skiing again, I’m more excited about visiting Maine and passing through New Hampshire. After this weekend, there will be only one remaining state that I have yet to visit: Montana. I’m so excited to be this close to joining the “I’ve-been-to-all-50-states-club” that I might make a special trip in the coming months just to close the deal.

For those of you who have visited Montana, any recommendations as to what I should do for a quick weekend trip? And for those who haven’t been either, want to go?

Have a nice weekend.

Audi’s Foreign Language

I got a flat tire this weekend. Thankfully, it happened between my home and the nearest gas station. I managed to drive the car to the station and left it there for the weekend. I’ll pick it up today with four new tires, at a cost of $160 per tire. Ouch.

Frankly, my Audi has been a bit needy lately. A few weeks ago, she started giving me a bunch of warning signals. Since I don’t have an Audi manual, I didn’t know what she was trying to tell me. Who would? Look at these symbols and tell me if you’d be able to figure them all out.

So I took her to the shop for a regular oil change, a tune up, and a state emissions inspection. I end up getting new brakes and a warning that my tires are nearing replacement. Lo and behold, I get a flat three days later.

Well I hope she is enjoying all of the attention and money I’ve thrown her way in the last week. Too bad she’s not my girlfriend.
