Stone sculptor held on Easter Island, accused of moving stones

Just days before arriving to Easter Island (I depart this afternoon), I discover someone has been moving stones on the island.

“A 71-year-old Canadian sculptor is being held on Chile’s Easter Island, famed for its massive carved stone heads, after authorities accused him of moving stones from archeological sites to create “land art” figures, an official on the remote island said on Monday.” (full story)

If this story made the news here in the US, I wonder how big of a story it will be on Easter Island when I arrive there Wednesday night. I might actually have something to blog about besides my vacation.
