Google Giveth, Google Taketh Away

Ten days ago Google killed off their Google Reader service, a site I visited multiple times a day. It was main source of content on the internet and represented years of curated RSS feeds.

Today, Google announced that it will soon do the same for their Google Latitude service. I used this service today to have dinner (albeit leftovers) warm and ready for my wife the minute she got home.

I’ve come to rely on many of Google services. Why won’t they kill off something useless (to me) like Orkut instead? What’s next, Google Voice, Gmail, Google Apps, or Search?

I used to blog more. I was slow to embrace social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus because I wasn’t in control of my content. Perhaps I should return more of my attention to my blog, because at least I have more control over it.
